2019 PGA Show

February 07, 2019

Our first full year under the Peoples Golf Brand was way better than we could have ever expected.  Not only did we sell well over 100 handmade putters, but we were able to revamp the Tour Stock Putters website making it more user-friendly and more accessible. One of the first things we did to revamp the TSP brand was introduced the all new Putter of Week program which highlands some of the best putters on the market.   Coinciding with our monthly release, the Putter of the Week program offers exclusive putters you wont find anywhere else. The next thing we did was launch an entirely new wedge collection. Our new wedge collection features the finest wedges in the world -- complete with several exclusive wedges you can’t find anywhere else.  TSP also expanded last fall to include a Tour Service department specifically established to cater to anyone needing a putter adjusted. We can now adjust any putter in house by TSP professionals. The new Tour Service department is a one-stop-shop and can do everything from new shaft installations to repair work -- you name it we can do it or tell you someone who can. TSP didn’t only bring new additions last year – we also brought new life to some old favorites. We reintroduced our HC Section with several hot headcovers from some of the golf industry’s top manufacturers.  Keep in mind we are still nowhere near completed and have plans to expand upon our lineup in this coming season.

Coming off an incredible year, Tour Stock Putter was thrilled to have the opportunity to kick off 2019 in Florida at the PGA show. TSP is already off to a great start this season having to have the unique opportunity to speak with and meet several prominent putter and wedge manufacturers while at the PGA Show.  Needless to say, we’ve got a lot of testing to do this spring and can’t what to tell you what we find to be the best of the best. We have some really exciting things planned for 2019 which includes not only new products from the brands TSP has come known for, but hopefully a couple of new brands to add to our collection.

One of the highlights from the PGA show was getting the opportunity to check out the new Scotty Cameron Phantom Putters up close and personal. We didn’t just get to look at these beauties on display, but we had the chance to putt with them and were extremely impressed. Scotty was also being his typical cool self and drawing up awesome pictures and autographs for anyone who asked.

Miura had one of their best years in company history last year and based on what we saw at the show, they are on track to have an even better year in 2019.  The Miura brand has built itself into a top brand in the golf industry and remains the constant topic of conversation amongst golf pros and enthusiasts alike. We were thrilled to see that we can expect several new products from Miura this year – only adding to the monster success they had last year.  Be on the lookout the release of the CB 301, the Left Hand CB 801, and not just one but two new wedges.

Miura CB-301

The K Grind 2.0 Wedge might have a wider knuckles than what you are used to, but they are not as deep, and have a much cleaner, simplified look. Some of the things to note about this addition is the reduced turf interaction and that it works surprisingly well around the green and works out of the rough. We had the opportunity to hit them when we were at the PGA show and we were extremely impressed by them. The bad news is, we don’t have them in stock yet – but keep an eye out because we plan to have them available by mid-February and these will only be available here in the US.

If you are in need of a wedge with a higher bounce, you should check out Miura’s new Tour Wedge HB. Although it has a higher bounce than the standard tour series, it still has a similar shape and will assist in getting out of those game changing sand traps. These will be coming out around Masters.

As always, Miura has some exciting new stuff planned for this season including different finish options as well as a new and improved Baby Blade iron. Big names on tour such as Zac Blair, Paul Goydos, Tim Petrovic, Kevin Chappell, and Abraham Ancer are all already using Miura iron sets and several pros are using their wedges. As a result of their improved clubs with a cleaner look, I believe we will continue to see more tour from presence from Miura moving forward from both tour staffers and pros who just love the clubs and brand.  If you’re interested in any Miura Irons be sure to check out our sister site The Peoples Clubs for the best selection and best pricing on Miura clubs.

We met up with Nick Venson, the former own of TSP and the genius behind Swag Golf, which has been taking the golf industry by storm. Swag Golf just signed Kevin Streelman to play their Handsome Too this year on the PGA Tour. Although relatively new, with Nick at the helms, Swag Golf is growing quickly and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them add another elite player to their roster real soon.

To go along with all of their awesome Headcovers, Ball Markers, and Divot Tools, Swag Golf brought several tour only prototype putters.  We were able to put our hands on several of their new putters and get a feel for their 2019 line. The first was their RAD putter which is the first mallet they’ve ever made. They also had a few of the Handsome Too putters.  Handsome Too is absolutely gorgeous in person and features a Double Fly Milled face which is beautifully finely milled.  Swag Golf also brought along several tour only prototypes they have been busy making for PGA professionals.  Check out a few of them below.

Finally we were able to see Swag Golf’s newest putter -- the Suave One. This new putter is the same Handsome One body but now has a milled flow neck. This putter is honestly a work of art, especially for a flow neck junkie like myself.  Nick was telling us that with their precision milling, they can mill the flow neck to be any loft or lie that a PGA professional would want.   In order to maintain consistency the round flow was painstakingly engineered in order to be machined with the offset and lie during the cnc process as opposed to being milled vertically and needing a blow torch to bend the neck by hand which opens the doors for human error.  If their first year is any indication of the success to come, we can’t wait to see what happens.
